In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8 2018, the Asian University for Women (AUW) has launched #ProgressStartsWithEducation, a campaign to raise $150,000 – enough to cover 10 one-year scholarships to help deserving women to continue their educations. At Point72, we know that progress and success begin with diversity of thought. That’s why we have donated $60,000 to fully underwrite the cost of a four-year scholarship to AUW.
The Asian University for Women was founded on the principle that education is the most powerful tool that can be used to change the world. In this short video, five AUW students share why they are passionate about affecting positive change for women in their home countries. #ProgressStartsWithEducation.
AUW is an independent, international university based in Chittagong, Bangladesh whose mission is to educate and develop the next generation of women leaders in Asia. By providing fully underwritten scholarships to high-potential yet underserved women from Asia and the Middle East, AUW seeks to graduate women who will go on to tackle their countries’ social, economic, and political issues.
We’re proud to announce that Point72 has donated $60,000 to AUW’s #ProgressStartswithEducation campaign. This donation will fully underwrite the cost of a four-year scholarship for one woman to attend AUW. We’ll also be offering an internship for at least one student from AUW this summer in our Hong Kong office.
AUW has graduated five classes totaling nearly 550 alumni since 2013. To date, more than 25% of AUW graduates have enrolled in post-graduate schools around the world at leading institutions. Graduates have gone on to work in their home countries at NGOs, government agencies, and companies including L’Oreal, Citibank, and UNESCO.
